What's the trigger for getting a certain code?

What's the trigger for getting A7's Cetus Mainframe code? In my latest run, i broke the wall to the east of the sealed doors leading to the mainframe, went into the room, and stood there with A7 for a bit then left. I half-remember that maybe there's dialogue for when the trigger is met, but i wasn't sure.
I apparently didn't meet said trigger, because A7 left the Archives without giving me the code.

So what's the trigger? Do you need to see a specific tile or something?

There's dialogue, yeah, and you'll usually get the first bit if you go in right next to it with A7.
