The Weekly Seed is open to anyone, and we encourage you to share your experiences, stories, and tactics over the course of your run.

The rules are as follows:
  • The Weekly Seed begins from the date this thread is posted and lasts about seven days.
  • Make sure you are running the correct version of Cogmind (see thread subject).
  • Enter the seed and abort your current game to initiate the seed (more details are below).
  • Verify you are not running the tutorial and that the screenshots below match your game.
  • Play through the game once. This is a friendly event and we are all honest people.
  • When finished, post your scoresheet here (it should be the newest file in /scores) and any other screenshots/stories/strategies you wish to share with the community.
  • If you want to share details about the seed or your approach, make sure you use spoiler tags.
  • Due to the spoilerific nature of this thread, be sure to avoid reading details about the seed if you haven't completed your run.

Press F1 to go to the MENU, select OPTIONS, select Seed, and enter this week's seed:




Select GAME, select ABORT:




If you have followed the steps [Manual seed applied: Shadow Creature] should display in the log window.

Tried the bare-hands strategy one more time. Optical Arrays were very helpful, they let me see the threat from distance so I could choose safer route. Wow, there are a lot of enemies in Access and I just couldn’t outrun them. Unfortunately, I could not find many flying units during this run and was mostly running with default 50 speed. A lot of fun anyway.

Default speed can get you far--definitely a lifesaver in some situations where things have taken a turn for the worse! Good run to the end, in any case, in only 2.6k turns. Winning that way would put you high on the leaderboards :)

Okay, so as the news is making the rounds that Alpha 12 has overdone alert level nerfs and is by far the easiest release yet, I report that bad decisions are still enough to kill a good player :P

I was doing fine until I decided, just for fun, to

I already have a good win in 12, so now I'm more willing to take risks and fool around, but from that point on it was downhill as I got picked apart in the caves. I still survived for several floors after that, but my suboptimal propulsion was always an issue, forcing me to use a combination of treads, legs, hover, and wheels...

What did me in was happening upon an absolutely crazy convergence of squads (partially of my own doing because I was wreaking havoc). Just look at these guys...

I did find tons of launchers in this seed, though. Quite different from my winning run this week where there were only two the whole run!

The "pristine Storage grunts" escorted me through two floors early on. Here we are making our way into the caves for an immediate showdown:

I got to lay traps for the first time, too! That was a lot of fun; definitely some good new strategies there. I didn't get an Extractor myself (they fizzled...), but looting the Minesweeper's inventory was enough. Being my first time I made some mistakes in trap placement, and also only later realized that because I didn't have an Extractor, once I'd put them in the wrong place I couldn't get them back again xD
