I ran with this and actually tried to live by hoarding hackware and visiting as many terminals as possible. Got too attached to allies and stupidly fought alongside them to the bitter end. Yeah, should have let them get wasted but after experiencing suspension of disbelief I found it hard to abandon them. After all they are not some Unaware pieces of hardwired machinery, they are real Derelicts.
Run details:
Early on I started hunting Operators to get their stuff for myself but I have not recovered any suites until -9. At that floor I caused so much disruption there was an assault squad sent after me. I survived but that encounter cost me a lot of core integrity. In result I had to give up on Storage. So many terminals left unchecked, eh.
On -8 there were no branches which disappointed me. To compensate for my adventurous spirit I let myself go around whole area blowing nearly every machine out. That place was a smoking ruin after Cogmind left it. Also, quite a lot of suites and system shields were recovered.
On -7 I toyed with fabricators and obtained schematics for suite and system shield. Database lockout prevented me from requesting more advanced schematics. Also, I failed to resist the urge to blow up two 4x6 concentrations of nuclear reactors. All the hacking gear made it easy to unreport some threats but there was need to send several squads home/
Funniest situation of the run was when I entered a room with two terminals and two Operators who promptly made a run for the machines. My shots meant to intercept one of them irritated a builder who signaled an alarm. In total from just one room I got myself three bonus Reinforcemens teams. Way to go, Cogmind. Fortunately a single terminal was enough to convince all of them to take extended vacations.
On -6 I built myself spare Hacking Suites and some backup Flight Units so I could visit caves. In retrospect that was a fine idea but led to my demise. There was a group of Derelicts in Zion who were unhealthily curious about Complex 0x10b and asked me to take them on tour. Well, who am I to refuse? We cut up a Behemoth to pieces on the way out but in the factory I made a serious blunder. Being attached to the group I fought two hunters until my buddies were wasted. At that point a contingent of gruns with swarmer support was in sight too. Next two programmers joined the fray. Bye bye.
Overall this run got me five percent points of lore more. Also, I learned two new trojans. The score result is very close to my best, so what is not to like? Oh, wait. I also got material for two more bug reports, although one of them is a typo and quite possibly has been reported already.
