Heh, I had fun on this run, though I didn't do so hot. In great news, this was my first run in ASCII mode, and I really enjoyed it.

Right off the bat, I didn't feel confident in my build; I went for flight pretty early, then got wrecked in the caves when I spawned in a room with 3 grunts. Even so, I managed to rebuild all the way to Zion. There, a kind Zionite blessed me with some special door codes...hmm...I remember seeing a door in Zion that was locked... Curiosity is quite the driving force, and post Imprintion (Imprinting? Imprintication? Being Imprinted?) I made my way to the Deep, Dark, Terrifying, Deep Caves.

Next time I head that direction, I'll try to be more prepared, with big guns n stuff. Nevertheless, it's exciting and satisfying to discover new things!

As always, my Cogmind runs can be found on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChfKrCBdatBePGqB1LsAKuw
I try to upload Mon, Wed, Fri and should have the first part of this run uploaded at the end of this week!

Ooh, switching to ASCII mode :D. It's even more thematic and I certainly enjoy it myself, though when showing the game to others I tend to use tiles, or at least switch back and forth between the two, since the average person can get a somewhat better idea of what's going on that way :P

Too bad about the expedition into the deep--surviving that area is definitely for the tough and hardy!

Agreed, it definitely has a different feel to it. I'll play with it some more before choosing a favorite, but I imagine switching back and forth to be common occurrence in my future :D

To me, ASCII mode felt bolder, but I don't know if it was from the symbols, colors, or both. Probably both lol  8)

Certainly the ASCII is going to be a bit easier to read (and give you that "bolder" feeling) with its lower detail and therefore less of a need to reserve pixels for different sub-elements. The tiles have to fit in a 12x12 area, and that's not much to work with! Letters, by contrast, aren't too hard to fit into that :)
