Title: Browsing world map with keyboard mode influences targeting
Post by: Widmo on January 05, 2017, 11:30:07 AM
This one was actually very funny to find out. It is specific to keyboard mode.

1) Make sure no enemies are in view.
2) Target a machine and fire at it. Still no enemies should be in view.
3) Open world map and browse around.
4) Close world map.
5) Fire again expecting previous spot will be targeted.
6) Profit ... for your enemy.

I unintentionally shot at a wall blowing off my hard earned grenade launcher that way.

This is possibly not even the only way to achieve this effect :P

I'm familiar with it, and was planning to do a bit of revamping to the targeting selection that will indirectly resolve situations like this. Things like being able to re-target the same walls/space (which is not currently a thing but should be!).

Technically in keyboard mode the cursor is moving around, which also affects whatever you're "pointing at" on the map.

As demonstrated in the relevant Ideas post (http://www.gridsagegames.com/forums/index.php?topic=700.0), I've revamped the targeting system. Among the improvements, previous spot will always be targeted now.
