Heh, I had fun on this run, though I didn't do so hot. In great news, this was my first run in ASCII mode, and I really enjoyed it.

Right off the bat, I didn't feel confident in my build; I went for flight pretty early, then got wrecked in the caves when I spawned in a room with 3 grunts. Even so, I managed to rebuild all the way to Zion. There, a kind Zionite blessed me with some special door codes...hmm...I remember seeing a door in Zion that was locked... Curiosity is quite the driving force, and post Imprintion (Imprinting? Imprintication? Being Imprinted?) I made my way to the Deep, Dark, Terrifying, Deep Caves.

Next time I head that direction, I'll try to be more prepared, with big guns n stuff. Nevertheless, it's exciting and satisfying to discover new things!

I try to upload Mon, Wed, Fri and should have the first part of this run uploaded at the end of this week!

Wow, long run, and almost a win! I wanted to see how the last floors went down for you, but I guess you didn't upload those parts? (Needed to get through them more quickly to try to keep up, eh? :P Streaming/recording does slow things down...)

Yea, it does slow it down a bit, but I've got parts uploading Mon, Wed, Fri till the end. Its a lot easier to edit parts in smaller chunks, plus I can do that while hanging out with my family. Playing, on the other hand...even when I'm not recording, I tend to get a little too into it!

Thanks for the tips on stair discovery, I usually ignore terrain scanners, but now I'll pay a little more attention.

As usual, I'm a bit late to the party, but it takes me a LONG time to get through these runs. Between family, work, and school, I'm lucky to get an hour or two of playtime a week.

That being said, this was my best run yet!  ;D

From close to the beginning, I was running treads as my propulsion, and I remember seeing a TON of storage, and wanted to try to take advantage of it. Treads and EM carried me through both the lower and upper caves as I visited Zion and got imprinted and (for the first time ever) met Warlord! The Warlord - Imprinter story is really interesting and I'm hoping to get to WL without being imprinted sometime soon. Warlord was attacked, but I managed to escape in the chaos. I made significant use of Zion reinforcements, but the Research areas were rough, in the end, I just booked it to the exit to reach Access. From there I pretty much just ran from terminal to terminal summoning Zionites as distractions while I tried to escape...it didn't work  :P. Kyz, you mentioned 'proper stair discovery methods', would you care to elaborate?

I just started this run, and hope to keep this updated as I go (especially since I can only really play in short increments).

So far, things are swell! At -9 I decided to venture into the mines. I've got treads, EM weapons, and I'm pretty happy so far. I have noticed with this particular seed that a trapper build could be really successful. I found multiple datajacks on the first floor as well as a stash of trap extractors on the next. I'm hoping someone journeys down that path and keeps us updated :D!

That's it for now (pretty boring, I know), but I'll make sure to post updates as I progress.

UPDATE:
Things are still going swell! During my adventures in the mine, I made a friend who gifted me with a mining laser. Together, we delved, but soon...the drums...the drums in the deep... We stood our ground against the assault, but, while victorious, I was now alone again. With her dying breath (beep?), she showed me a derilict log detailing -7\Zion. My goal was clear.

Once in -8\Materials, I pumped up my weapon and and utility slots and started looking for more storage. I've been on treads with only a single small storage unit. Alas, I found the exit without any additional storage. I decided to be brave and continue exploring and... lo and behold, right around the corner, two haulers ripe for pillaging. As they exploded, they revealed 2 medium storage units and a plethora of prototype weapons. Augmented and filled to the brim with firepower, I took the stairs to -7, ready to find salvation in Zion.

UPDATE 2:
I made it through to the lower caves, and I don't remember anything terribly interesting happening. :/ Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish this run anytime soon as I'm going out of town. Even so, I'll finish eventually, and you can always find weekly seed runs on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuay3Yt3BRpcZ3HrCBAhASA0rLsf42Qob

This was a really frustrating run for me. Right off the bat, I put myself into propulsion problems. At one point, I had a leg, a hover, and a flight unit and that was it. Finally, I stumbled upon a stash of sweet, sweet cooled flight units! Flying around like I owned the place, I put myself in a room surrounded by enemies. I bashed a wall to escape...right into a group of baddies. As I started to fight...cave in. I had trouble recovering from there. Hopefully I'll do better next time!

Late to the party, as usual. Coming into this run, I decided, "I'm going to be a gunner, no flight this time." Then promptly passed up several great opportunities to get into a solid flight build. I got into the caves I found a
from the Tinker. Even with the sweet gun, things went downhill and I perished a slow death at the hands of many swarmers.

I had a garrison I couldn't seal, with Defenders coming from either side. Frantic grenade launchering ensued followed by frantic matter getting.
I hope you weren't trying to nade the Defenders (or did you have no other options?), since they're pretty resistant to that. I mean I guess you can still do it (now I'm wondering if GJ does that anyway with his explosive builds...), just feels like a waste to me.

Oh, I was definitely nading the Defenders. I honestly haven't payed too much attention to enemy weaknesses and resistances yet. That changes today :D

My run is currently in-progress, but it has been pretty crazy so far. Due to some sloppy play, I ended up in A LOT of gunfights. At one point, in Materials (I think -8), I had a garrison I couldn't seal, with Defenders coming from either side. Frantic grenade launchering ensued followed by frantic matter getting. Towards the end of that floor, lo and behold, a sign from the heavens... One room. 3 good flight units. One sensor array. One signal interpreter. Flight build, here we come :D. I'm currently in Factory, hoping to make it as high as I can collecting lore. I'll be updating this post as I go!

Edit: Flying was great! I think my biggest problem is that I get going so fast, I forget to stop and actually make decisions :/. In -3/Research, I had the toughest time finding a main exit. Hacks didn't work, Veterans, Wardens, and all kinds of baddies everywhere. Low on matter, I decide to ambush a Technician (or Eye?) from behind a wall... it was a Master. Things went downhill REAL quick as I scrambled for an exit. In the end, I made it to -2/Research with nothing equipped. That's it for now, but I'll update with my eventual demise :D.

Edit 2: Welp, I lasted approximately 2 mins on -2/Research, couldn't find the equipment to get restocked.

Once again, I'm late to the party ;D. This was an interesting run for me, as I went into it wanting to do a flight build like I did for the last weekly seed. Instead, I found some decent legs and kept getting into fights. Then, somewhere around -4, I got completely wrecked. Eventually, I blew a hole in a wall, grabbed a single flight unit from the other side, and high-tailed it to the next level. From this point on, I was in flight mode. But...when I was in -3/Testing, I saw some Strikers guarding a big door... ::). I just HAD to look. From there, it was pretty much over. I think I could've made it to the next floor if I hadn't messed with the Strikers, but heck, it was fun.

Thanks, I'll try that next time. I didn't get ahold of a hacking suite until fairly late, so many of my later level hacks just failed :(. I'm 100% drinking the sensor kool-aid. Being able to see what's around you is SO VALUABLE! I think I'll try a similar run with the next weekly seed, see what I can do.   :o

EDIT: Here's the run if you're interested https://youtu.be/FDdatIgbpEM

This run took me farther than I've ever gone before, all the way up to -3/Testing! Early on, in -9/Storage, I found a stockpile of good flight units and thus my first flight run was born! I spent most of the time avoiding battles and working my way upwards. I shot myself in the foot when I ventured into -5/Extension. I decided to try tunneling to get around some bad guys and cave-ins killed my flight units :(. It felt downhill from there as I ran away from bigger, badder, and scarier dudes. Do you guys have any tips for the early/mid game that help as the baddies get tougher?

Here is my output:

Additionally, I'll post here when I get my vids uploaded.

I've uploaded my run as promised! You can take a look here if you'd like https://youtu.be/2DAVpBNu060. I think my biggest takeaway, both from this run, and from catching part of Kyzrati's stream yesterday, is that sometimes you just need to drop everything, run away, and regroup. I think I get too attached to some of my parts and it kills me.

38
I noticed specifically, I fired way more volleys than you. Did you pick up flight units then hack and evade your way through most of the levels? Or what was your strategy?

39
I had a fun run, though I only made it to -7/Factory. All the deets are below. Like a renegade a chose to enter -10/Mines and -9/Mines. In -10/Mines I escaped with just 1 core left. JUST ONE! Poor resource management and some iffy decisions are what finally did me in. I tend to shoot first and see if I have enough matter to attach new legs later (great way to get stranded by the way). Spread shots kept killing engineers, which would summon more reinforcements. Always looking for suggestions! I recorded this run as well, I'll post a link when I get it edited and uploaded to youtube.

I meant to do this one, but never got to it :(. I started a random seed right before this one posted, and it's been going on longer than I expected lol. I just keep managing to survive :D!

Haha, thanks! I'm still learning the best practices, but seem to forget them more often than not. I remember a few times when my allies have blown up randomly due to "Rocket Launcher Misfire", I'll keep that in mind with crazy weapons from now on. I've recorded a second run here https://youtu.be/HfvsCi7JF48. It was a lot of fun, and I think I learned some!

I plan on recording some more, let me know if you have tips, tricks, suggestions.

I can imagine :(. Get feelin' better man. I'm probably gonna try this seed again (avoiding the mines :P), and see if we can't do a bit better!

I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I played this seed this evening. I only made it to the mines (-10?, No evolutions.) when some a-hole derelict started broadcasting a signal, drawing a squad to our position. Made for a short run :(. I had fun though, recorded it. I'll edit and upload it to Youtube soon, so anyone can see me fail XD!
