The Weekly Seed is open to anyone, and we encourage you to share your experiences, stories, and tactics over the course of your run.

The rules are as follows:

* The Weekly Seed begins from the date this thread is posted and lasts about seven days.
* Make sure you are running the correct version of Cogmind (see thread subject).
* Enter the seed and abort your current game to initiate the seed (more details are below).
* Verify you are not running the tutorial and that the screenshots below match your game.
* Play through the game once. This is a friendly event and we are all honest people.

* As Cogmind now has multiple difficulty modes and challenges which will affect the world generation, by default it is assumed everyone is playing on regular difficulty with no challenges enabled. HOW TO ENTER A SEED

Press F1 to go to the MENU, select OPTIONS, select Seed, and enter this week's seed:




Select GAME, select ABORT:




If you have followed the steps [Manual seed applied: OpticalDataBeam] should display in the log window.

Congratulations on entering the seed, now get in there!

Fun, as usual, and a win!

I streamed the entire thing in two parts, from start to -3/Research, then picked up later the same day to .

My goal this time was to focus on legged combat, since I've mostly been doing treads for a while (since they were buffed for all-out combat) but legs used to be my go-to. They're better for an offensive style that moves quickly and relies less on armor and more on support utilities like good targeting. I even had sensors and used a fair amount of infowar tactics, but very little hacking the entire run.

This is certainly a great seed to start with since there are a ton of grenade launchers near the entrance. Materials was pretty uneventful, being quick and easy, though there was a detour through the Mines where I did get some events like allies and a scripted cave-in after which I was excavated etc. :).

I did enter a garrison on -6 and took most everything out, including the Behemoth at the center. I was in good shape anyway
Spoiler (click to show/hide)and the garrison wasn't far from the entrance to the floor so I thought it'd be worthwhile.

Sensors helped make the several upper caves I visited far easier than they would've been. I paid a visit to Mr. Z.

While in Factory I built a pair of Adv. Coolant Injectors I found preloaded at a Fabricator, and those were great for a few floors.

Drones also helped a good bit in terms of finding exits, but at the same time stirred up trouble and things were getting hairy in -4/Factory!

I survived this and the many other squads and guards that showed up, mainly through tactics and... an overloaded Fabricator--it did a really good job :P. There were yet more coming though, so while half naked I ended up fleeing to an exit a drone had found to the south.

FINALLY, half-way through the second-to-last map of the game, I found my first Lrg. Storage Unit xD
Spoiler (click to show/hide)This was a pretty no/low-storage run, and I spent much of it at just 4-10 or so inventory slots, rather dangerous for a combat run but it turned out okay!

Spoiler: Spoilering the last floor, because last floor :P (click to show/hide)For Access I'd picked up both an Adv. Force Field and Adv. Energy Well, which combined meant that I wasn't taking much damage despite lacking armor a lot of the time. I did have a fair number of propulsion slots, and used treads as backup while fighting and to block shots, but stayed on legs for pretty much the entire run. This is the Access entry state, pretty good:

Then came a heavenly Hauler carrying three Hellfire Missile launchers...

And I ended up not spending too long searching for the exit, either, since around the corner was Command, and then not long after I found an Energy Cycler which I blew up for the heck of it, and right around the corner from that was... the exit!

Seeing as I was in great shape and had a powerful build at this point, I decided to farm for a while and play with different loadouts.

It took a while to attract much attention compared to my power level, though, so I didn't mind wandering off a little further and just blasting everything :D

Peak OP was when I went off to get a Nova Cannon and punch through the walls to the Behemoth guards, corrupted both of them to death with 4x Gamma Rifles, then put on treads and all their Multirails to become the Behemoth and terrorize the place.

I eventually left, though spent a full third of the run's turns in Access :P

In retrospect, most of my best gear this run came from Haulers, so taking them out was a good thing. Main reason I was doing it in the first place was to seek out more storage, but it took forever to get what I wanted :P

Caught the end of your stream (last couple of floors), and I was surprised how easy it looked. I think you got just a little bit lucky with patrols and map layout. :P

HA, I'll agree there was certainly luck involved in finding the exit before too long, but throughout Access I also had a really strong build with the targeting + shields + good weapons. As you saw I could keep farming the exit for a while. A broader search wouldn't have been too difficult either.

I tend to be "lucky" with exits in general (I hit quite a few of them in intermediate floors without much wasted search time), but I also have a general sense of where they might be. The strongest sense. Dev sense!
