I love the way trees are getting gradually smaller in this perspective from /|\ to ^

Sure thing, put it there, and thanks for all RTs!

Hello REXpainters!
I couldn't find anywhere on the web suitable cp437 6x6 font so I've created one ( in RP :) ).
Of course it was not possible to have all accents in international characters, while keeping font readable, so most of them are just left pure-latin.
Use it on your own risk, license: Creative-Commons (CC BY 3.0).

Oh, problem was more obvious than I thought :)
No 'images' happened to me once when doing images backup by drag & drop... to the same drive which resulted in a directory move instead of copy ;)

I can reproduce such behaviour by running RP without 'images' subdiretory, EndPhaze is that your case?

56
Hahaha, Is this revenge after blinding static?
But yeah, thanks for that tiny font, going to keep it, who knows when & what I'd be trying to do ;)

57
@Simon I'm wondering if Kyzrati is going to add 2-click thing anyway, as apart from copy-paste, drawing lines/rects/ovals are affected as well :)

58
This time it worked, feew... what a relief I'm not that stupid. Thanks!

59
Hmmm, I can't get it working. I suppose linked file REXPaint_patch_copy_from_locked_layers.zip is some older patch as its size is smaller than latest patch I have. Otherwise I'd need a video tutorial on using ctrl-shift-c ;)

60
Great, thank you. It sounds like this weekend I'm gonna do some real progress then :)
Haha 2) I'll put some warning  :P

61
Fantastic! Thank you.

Btw, now I'm also owner of http://asciicker.com LOL!
The place for my all new experiments.
(nutting there at the moment)

1) Yes, I can use entire layer copy (in this particular case)
2) Moving oversized layers between several files - rearranging tilesets each 320x240 cells  :o
3) Few layers I have would require pasting at negative coordinates which is not possible, they contain transparent margins I don't need anymore,
so copying only non-transparent area bbox would help. Otherwise I'd need to reposition layer (ctrl-shift-arrows) prior to copy, so this is not must-have feature.

Thanks!

63
Oh, I thought it would be easy, thanks for detailed explanation I was wrong ;)
2-click solution sound's great but may confuse other users, as there is no other 2-click cmd in RP I guess. Another workaround for my particular case would be 'copy whole layer' (ctrl-shift-c?) (while preferably clipping it to its bounding box).

I'm glad to hear you're getting better!

64
Hi, I'm having a hard time with copying areas larger than my monitor can handle (even at smallest font).
Everything I'd need is possibility to scroll the view between specifying corners of rectangle to be copied.
Is that possible to put on todo?

@Kyzrati Thanks for tweeting, I get very positive feedback :) Project has so many unknows yet so I can't even tell if it is doable at all :o haha.

Hi, I'm still in muckup-prototyping phase of project but this time I've started from menu/sub-window system to avoid difficulties of embedding menu related stuff into app in future :).

Here's a sample shot, still I can't believe, how full keyboard image can so easily fit in 80x50 screen. :D

67
Probably it could simply overlap layer visibility state (multiple clicks with shift on it could cycle between all 8 modes).
Even if not persistent in .xp file, it would greatly simplify my mockup proofing :)
Everyone can dream ...  right? ;)

Haha, odd. Everything I do for fun is odd but here I have a reason for using tool like RP, appart of html5, this 'game' should be able to run on windoze's cmd.exe & all standard telnet/ssh terminal-emus like putty, xterm, etc. (so same tech specifics as with AP but with use of glyphs above 0x7F). I've considered sixels too, it would match displayed content much better, but not many terminals suport it (including win10's cmd).

Now, while browsing this thread I realized I can finaly make use of foilage posted here a year ago probably it can match my isometry well :)

Ok, so I'm making some style reasearch for such isometric look project. Probably it's not going to be fully flaged game, but just to have some fun for me with ascii.
So my new attempt is to give it a look of oldschool ascii (as with previous mockup) but with some pixelart-like sprites. Those sprites would have only look of pixelart, technicaly they are just regular pure ascii using block characters.

My first sprite sketch:

Yeah, using RP as pixelart editor is also nice choice at least for me :)

But the main issue with it is the size, it is enormous as compared with initial street size :(

So one solution to it was writing small tool which tryies to compress full-block characters to 2x smaller graphics with half-block characters. Of course, as I'm self-constrained to standard CP-437, there are many strituations where such mapping is simply not possible (more than 2 colors in scaled-down character or 1 quarter fg + 3 quarter bg and a 'checker board'). But with some manual post-retouching (in RP) results are pretty acceptable to me :)

As it is in isometric view, animation of such sprite along diagonals would need to skip every odd horizontal cel or it could use half-block haracters to allow sprite to advance by half-cel vertically while full cel horizontaly. Of course I'm gonna go with half-cells :)

Sprite-sheet 2 x Comression to half-blocks after bit of manual retouch & thresholding to ansi vga palette:

Yes, sprite is still way bigger than planned on initial mockup, so I'm going  to upscale streets a bit ;)

So finaly let's see how does it look when animated:

Hi guys... I'm just playing with best time killing app ever (RP) ... again :)
... trying to visualize way how isometric game could look in ascii.

Yep, right. It is more tricky in case of no CP related sprite sheets.  :-X

I'd also consider switching from upper left (chr 00h) pixel test to the space character (20h) area.
